Anyway, I once had legs like hers -- toned, solid, defined ... legs that could knock you out with one fell graceful swoop. Legs that you get after dancing 6 days a week for fourteen years straight. I also had flexibility that my present day self has lost, and I mourn over this every day when I reach down to touch my toes. But now those legs of mine don't exist (in fact, I'm utterly and totally toneless), and my flexibility is practically nonexistent.
So I write this on the eve of a new start. I'm not good at being self-disciplined, but I admire those who are. I need the accountability, and I need someone who's going through it with me. My old roommate, Chelsea, and I have decided to be one another's electronic workout buddies even though she's in Houston and I'm in Dallas.
As of a few minutes ago, Chelsea and I swapped our week's workout plan and every evening we will have to text one another as to whether or not we achieved the day's goal. I'm also doing something similar with my sister, Laura; however, she and I are just texting one another every day as to what we've done that we can consider counting as exercise.
I have just gotten fed up with my unhealthy self, and quite frankly sitting on the floor staring at Sebastian just isn't doing it for my body. Furthermore, everyone was telling me that the numbers on the scale are supposed to go down the further out post-partum you go. Well, the past few weeks that has not been the case for me. The numbers are going up up and away!! I want to take advantage of this awesome calorie burning machine they call breastfeeding.
So all this being said, my first week's goals surround walking and yoga. I've mapped my walking routes using Map My Walk, and I'll be using various yoga workouts found on this nifty site, Do Yoga with Me, that Pinterest introduced to me (by the way, they have prenatal yoga routines on there that I wish I had known about let's say 12 months ago). I've used a few of the sessions from the site already, and I think I'll like it ... for a time, at least.
I cannot run due to my degenerative disk (bet you didn't know I was decrepit, did you?), and we don't have money for gym memberships, and I have a baby with me at all times (save for the naps). Sooooo, do any of you have suggestions? If so, fire away.
Anyway, I'll report back to any so-not-interested readers at the end of the week to let you know how I fared. It could be a very poor report, I warn you.
